Loving God and Neighbour would be heaven on earth

Dear Editor,

“Can we imagine what kind of society we would have if everyone could do whatever he/she wanted to do?” This question was asked by a person who wrote a letter last week. I would say that there is no need to imagine. We are experiencing it at this moment. Just look around you. Pick up a newspaper, turn on the television or the radio. The apostle Paul described our day many centuries ago in 2 Timothy 3 “This know also, that in the last days perilous times shall come. For men shall be lovers of their own selves, covetous, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, Without natural affection, trucebreakers, false accusers, without self control, fierce, despisers of those that are good, Traitors, reckless, conceited, lovers of pleasures more than lovers of God; Having a form of godliness, but denying the power of: from such turn away.” Jesus Christ taught that the two great commandments are to love God and to love our neighbor. So I would ask this gentleman who wrote in last week. Can you imagine what kind of society we would have if everyone loved God and loved her/his neighbor? That would be heaven on earth.
