We, Robertson Manor Seniors, could hardly believe our eyes. Apparently, someone did not get the memo, as there, on both sides of the street, just after the Golden Hills Lodge were banners proclaiming that the Lodge was the end of the parade route! Some of us (Rebels) wondered if we should move the banners down, or march in protest to a meeting of the Town Council. However, we thought better of it.

Writing this July 1 after returning from the Carbon Legion breakfast where everything was prepared by volunteers and you paid by donation. As usual in Carbon when food prep and work is involved Nancy was in the kitchen. I then read the Calgary Herald and National Post online and walked around Anderson Park and am now sitting in front of our condo observing others enjoying the park. My blood pressure rose as I scanned the Summer Celebration parade route. “They’ve done it again,” I groaned! From the Golden Hills Lodge on in big red letters, it read, NO CANDY SPACE. Why? It’s not that we 40-some seniors in the Robertson Manor next door to the Lodge eat a lot of candy; but our children and grandchildren come to watch the once-a-year parade with us and they are denied the fun of picking up and eating candy. As one who somewhat follows current events I find it easy to be cynical when discussing them. Thus I decided to relate a few positive local events I have recently attended. We are involved with the Three Hills Rural School group and attended the spring steak fry which, as usual, was excellent.
